  1. Scott, I really liked your thoughts on the importance of teaching students to think, rather than just regurgitate facts. I was frightened to think that learning is defined as "memorizing". Although I might think that some learning is memorizing (hopefully in long term memory), I don't think this should be an all inclusive definition. Also I liked your use of two images, I wonder how you did that. That is something I must figure out!

  2. Scott, great visuals. I liked your explanation of the implications of teaching superficially.

  3. Scott, I agree with you that teaching towards standardized tests is depriving our students of the opportunity to think outside the box. I loved the correlation between students losing the ability to argue their point and not being able to become a top candidate for various jobs they may apply for in the future. Curiosity, motivation and creativity are characteristics that have allowed major milestones to occur throughout history like you mentioned. Teaching towards standardized tests creates a society full of mediocrity. Thanks for your thoughts!

  4. Scott, I need to make more time to play with Yodio to rival your skills! But beyond the editing skills, you also did a great job in the content of your presentation. You hit on some great points, and I totally agree that we are not creating a society of deep thinkers who can push the boundaries, but we are rather creating a group of kids that can take directions, memorize content long enough to pass the test and regurgitate information.
