What is reading?

    I agree with your take on the teacher's role in the reading process. Creating an environment that allows for maximum ability by students to engage and absorb corriculum is of the utmost importance. Without that, the process falls apart quickly.

    The word comprehend kept cropping-up for me too and it really seems to be one of the links of how reading and general learning are correlated; how and whether students are able to comprehend. What will really test us is your last comment about how our role is to create experiences, and introducing literature in a meaningful and comprehensible context. What are your ideas about how to do that?
