  1. Karina-
I think that it is great that you have learned a lot about your student in such a short amount of time. It was a smart idea for you to print out a text from the internet when you had nothing else to work with. My suggestion to you would be to record your student as he is reading. My student is a 4th grader and he reads fairly fast too, but since I recorded him reading, I was able to go back and rewind it to make sure that the running record was as accurate as possible.

    1. Yes, when we have time, recording can make a big difference. It's very difficult to catch much while the students are reading.

  2. Hi Karina,

Thanks for sharing. It can be difficult when you are dealing with a shy student, but you seem to be getting a good understanding of who he is and how he functions as a learner. I am fortunate to be working with a young man I've known for many years, so I do not find myself faced with the shyness issue. I also think that Mayra's suggestion of recording the reading can be very helpful when working with a student who reads quickly. That way you can have the time later to really review the process.

  3. This is great how much information you took away from this assginment. I think that dealing with a shy student will really give you a challenge and really provide you will some great information. My student is the opposite and think that its great to hear about the different types of students that we all have. Overall think you did a great job on this weeks response.
