  1. Angelee-
I totally agree with you that writing helps us understand the content better. I seem to remember the content of what I am reading better when I take notes as I am reading. I think that writing can help us identify why certain things are so important to us. It can very well be that an experience is important to us for a different reason than we thought. I find it very interesting and cannot wait until I can do it in my class.

  2. I think that the process of reading and writing help us to use important skills like critical thinking, creativity, and teaches us how to use learning strategies within different content area. If we can get these skills and techniques down, then we can do well in many other areas of study.

  3. I agree that reading and writing require the same thought process. Understanding both reading and writing will help with a student become better and each process. I also agree that writing can help a person realize why they feel a certain way towards something or like Mayra says what is important to us. I know you talk a lot about the inventive spelling, how would you incorporate this into your classroom? Do you think this will be very useful to use in the classroom, if so why? Overall think you did a good job on your response.

  4. Good point that inventive spelling helps students to be creative without being inhibited by their lack of spelling skills. It's similar to when children learn to talk. They don't wait until they can speak in complete sentences--nor do parents typically correct young children when they point and say, "Ball." by telling them to say it in a complete sentence. If we did, the children wouldn't want to explore language for fear of getting it wrong. Parents/adult typically delight in the way young children experiment with language. I wonder why it isn't the same when young children start to learn to write?
