Here is my Yodio post about my third grade reader.

  1. It sounds like you had a positive experience with your reader, which is great :) I liked the mention that he used context clues to try and figure out what unknown words could possibly mean in the context of the student. I think it shows the reader's skill in that he is able to realize that each word functions specifically in the sentence - internal questions like: would it make sense for the unknown word to be a verb here? Have I seen this word before? show the developing concept of reading.

  2. I'm happy you had a good time for your first running record experience. It sounds like this is a bright kid who understands how to use cues, clues, and context around words he is unfamiliar with to figure out that word. I'm curious though, what were his difficulties?

  3. Sounds like Sampson is a great little reader. I'd love to hear more too. Was he able to retell the chapter and tell you about the characters of the story and some of the details? I would love to hear all the details :)
