  2. Kalyn, I thought you did a great job of describing the reasons content teachers need to teach reading, writing and include content vocabulary in their classes. I think this is one of the strongest rebuttals to the "it's not my job to teach English" argument.

  3. The point about thinking like a scientist, historian, musician is such an important one. It can be difficult to do in schools as we can get focused on preparing students for tests rather than learning to think critically about the subject.

  4. I also like your point that students are reading and writing in every content area, just in a different way, and how important it is for content areas to have the authority to teach how to read and write in their area, because they are the "experts" on the area.

  5. I agree with Shannon. I really appreciate that point. In every content area students engage in reading and writing and it is important that they are taught how to read and write in that content area. Who better to teach them how to read and write in those areas than the content specific teachers?
